Does a strong January point to a good year for stocks?

Historically, it often has. Since 1945, the S&P 500 has returned about 10.9% on average in years that began with a positive January, against about 2.1% after a negative January and 7.4% in an average year. It is a statistical tendency, not a rule, and Tramondo reads it together with company data, chart analysis and market dynamics.
